Description
Thomas Mann's Death in Venice is the ideal basis for multidisciplinary, modern music-theater. For the realization of this project, Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen was able to win over a congenial artistic team: the award-winning opera and theater director Alexander Charim and composer Michael Rauter, who will compose the music for it. Mann's novella will be reinterpreted considering the screenplay and the film adaptation by Luchino Visconti (1971), who iconically linked Gustav Mahler's compositions to this material. For Mahler, South Tyrol, especially Dobbiaco, was a place of strength and inspiration throughout his life. The Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, together with the five-member ensemble, will transform the auditorium of the Municipal Theater of Bolzano into a spatial stage and surprise the audience musically and scenically.
