The new opera season is defined by openness: more productions, new collaborations, and an innovative itinerant format that takes opera beyond the theater, bringing it to fresh venues and engaging new audiences. It is an invitation to experience opera with curiosity and a contemporary outlook – moving between timeless masterpieces and unexpected works of today. The season opens with Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, followed by a double bill of Wolf-Ferrari’s Il segreto di Susanna and Rota’s La notte di un nevrastenico. Two new productions by Resident Director Fabio Cherstich also take the stage: Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri and David Lang’s Note to a Friend, presented in Italy for the first time. Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda will launch the new itinerant opera project, with performances set in castles and some of the region’s most evocative locations.
Opera
A HEART THAT BEATS TO THE RHYTHM OF THE MODERN WORLD
It is the wish of the Haydn Foundation to continue its journey through the historical 20th century and the Italian and European contemporary.
What we propose is a polyphony of thoughts through symphonic music and melodrama, a journey of the eye and the ear, of vision and listening.
