Ludwig’s dream

Bonn, Germany, 1776. It is night. In the basement of the Beethoven family home, two old, bored toys are trying to pass the time when young Ludwig is suddenly dragged downstairs by his father, Johann. Left alone and forced to play the piano, young Ludwig improvises four simple yet unmistakable notes: da-da-da-daaa. As if by magic, the two toys emerge from their hiding place. And so begins an extraordinary journey through Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. Together with his unusual toy companions, young Ludwig discovers that his passion for music can take him further than he could ever have imagined. Inspired by Beethoven’s life story and marking the 200th anniversary of his death, the performance combines orchestral music with theatre, comedy and dance.
