Description

With Salieri vs. Mozart, the legendary rivalry between Antonio Salieri and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart takes centre stage once more through a journey through their most significant vocal and instrumental works. Beyond the myth – arguably the greatest piece of fake news in the history of music, fuelled by Miloš Forman’s film and the writings of Aleksandr Pushkin – the concert offers a comparison between two great artistic figures who lived in Vienna in the second half of the 18th century. Their masterpieces reveal different styles, emotions and visions: on the one hand, Salieri’s theatrical elegance and refined composition; on the other, Mozart’s extraordinary melodic invention and expressive depth. An opportunity to discover the talent of two composers who left an indelible mark on history, through famous pieces and lesser-known gems from their repertoire.
