Wind Quintet

The wind quintet can be described as the wind counterpart to the string quartet: a noble ensemble with a significant history and a repertoire that testifies to its rich tonal completeness. The principal players of the Haydn Orchestra trace its evolution across nearly three centuries of music. The program opens with Haydn’s Divertimento in B-flat major and culminates in a true 20th-century classic: Hindemith’s Kleine Kammermusik. Along the way, it features Quintet No. 1, Op. 56 by Franz Danzi, as well as an arrangement of Brahms’s famous Hungarian Dances.
